We keep very little. A random code for your 3DS, when it was first and last seen, and an email only if you add one. We do not sell your data and we do not use it for advertising.
Who runs this
Andrea runs as a fan project. It is not affiliated with Nintendo. You can write to pinecone@pine-cone.xyz about anything on this page.
What is stored for each 3DS
- A random device code that the app creates the first time you open it.
- A secret that stays on your console. We store only a scrambled copy that cannot be turned back into the secret.
- The 10 character code shown on the last row of the catalog.
- The date the 3DS was first seen and the date it was last seen.
- A scrambled copy of the internet address used the first time. It limits how many new codes one connection can create in a day, and it cannot be turned back into the address.
- An email address, only if you add one and confirm it.
Each episode keeps a total view count. That number is not tied to a 3DS.
What is not stored
Your name, a Nintendo Network ID, your friend code and your console serial number are never read or stored.
Server logs
The web server in front of the app and this site writes standard access logs with the internet address, the time and the page or file requested. They are used to fix problems and to block abuse. Watching a video shows up there as a file request from your internet address. Your code is never part of a requested address, so it does not appear in the logs, and the logs are not part of the deletion described below.
This website
Pages load nothing from other sites. Fonts and images come from here, and there is no analytics and no advertising.
- A security cookie is set when you open a form, to protect it from forged requests.
- When you sign in on the My 3DS page, a signed cookie remembers which 3DS you opened. It ends after 30 minutes or when you sign out.
- After wrong code attempts and email requests we keep a scrambled copy of your internet address for up to a day to slow down guessing and spam.
We write to you only when you ask. We send a link to confirm an address, a link to sign in, and a short note when a 3DS linked to that address is deleted. Links work once and for 30 minutes.
How long we keep it
A 3DS record stays until you delete it or the operator removes it. Pending email links are removed when they are used or expire.
Your choices
Open My 3DS and enter your code, or sign in with the email you linked. From there you can see what is stored, remove the email, or delete the 3DS. Deleting removes the record, the email and any pending links in one step. If you open the app afterwards it creates a new anonymous code.
If you are in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom you can also ask for a copy of your data, ask for corrections, object to how it is used, and complain to your local data protection authority.
Changes
If this page changes, the date at the top changes with it.
